The Knox test eam is made up of many of the Knox staff with contributors from the design, development and sales teams. We are all regular 2 wheel nuts. What ever it is, motorcycle or mountain bike we are out there doing it, testing and developing what we make. We don't always get it right and its the constant mishaps on the trail or track that keep the developments going.

Crimbo 2011

22-12-2011

Well it’s another year done; boy has this year flown in. That maybe because we have been so full on developing new gear for 2012. It’s a fair list: Meta-Sys 4 way flex and 2 way stretch back protector, Track Vest, Venture shirt, Off Road glove range, new MTB armour. And what with having to test it all there has been plenty of riding too. In fact 2012 will be another big year for the Knox development team as we start racing again. It’s been 25 year since one of us last raced but Paul Farrar is giving it a go in the MTB Northern Champs so hopefully we will be able to keep you up to date with his progress. Paul did the last round of the NDH on a hard tail – guess what he’s getting for Crimbo? You guessed it, a spanking full suss. Get on Mr P! So its best wishes to all Knox fans and customers. Happy Christmas & and excellent New Year.

Preston Docks MX

14-11-2011

Well yesterday I headed down to Preston Docks MX track with Stu Jenkinson and Andy Thomas to have my first crack on an MX bike for a few years. I don't have a bike but Andy was kind enough to let me ride his Kawasaki KX250 and we managed to get in different groups so that we could each have the full 20 minute session. I had completely forgotten how tiring riding MX is - 3 laps and I was ready to pull in with arm pump though I suspect this is something to do with the death grip I had on the handlebars due to not riding for so long then going straight in at the deep end on a wet, sandy, rutty track with the bike moving all over the place. First session out I crashed twice (and feeling it today) so after that I decided to back off and get around a bit smoother but just glad I was fully kitted up with my Knox kit from head to toe! Can't wait to ride again as I think it is a great form of training for DH next season...

NDH - Race Day

25-10-2011

So the race weekend has been and gone at Hamsterly Forest and I came away with a result I was fairly happy with. After my 1st run time of 1:38.57 I knew I had a smooth (if a little reserved) run but was sat in 25th out of 48 and I thought I had maybe 5 seconds in reserve if I let it hang a little looser. My second run came around and I had the Jenkinson's (a massive thanks to them for looking after me all weekend) and non other than Danny Hart, current World Champion, cheering for me at turn 1 so what did I do - slip a pedal, go straight over the top of the berm and off the next jump one footed and completely messed up my rhythm for the top of the 4x section of the track. This made me mad so I really started putting the hammer down in hope of making up any lost time until 3 corners from the finish I pushed a bit too hard, lost the front and slid into a bank. I was a bit dejected as I finished up 30th but I think if I had pieced it all together it could have been a better result but I suppose for a first race it wasn't to bad. I ended up being the quickest hardtail over the weekend but that might have something to do with the fact I was the only person riding one...
